International Dentist Integration

Last updated: 1 January 2026

Addressing the UK’s Dental Workforce Challenge

The United Kingdom faces a significant and growing shortage of dental professionals. Millions of patients across the country struggle to access NHS dental care, with particular shortages in rural and underserved areas. International dental graduates represent a vital part of the solution to this workforce crisis.

Saint Visage Dental Group has developed a comprehensive integration programme that supports talented dentists from around the world to build fulfilling careers in UK dentistry, while expanding access to dental care for communities that need it most.

Our Approach

Unlike recruitment agencies that place dentists and move on, Saint Visage takes full responsibility for the long-term success of every international graduate who joins our programme. Our approach is built on four pillars:

1. Full Regulatory & Immigration Support

We cover all costs and administration associated with bringing international dentists to the UK:

  • GDC registration guidance and exam preparation support.
  • Visa sponsorship and immigration legal representation, fully funded.
  • Home Office application fees, IHS surcharges, and all associated costs covered.
  • NHS performer list registration and DBS checks arranged and funded.
  • Professional indemnity setup and ongoing support.

2. Structured Clinical Mentorship

Every international graduate is paired with an experienced senior clinician who provides hands-on mentorship over a three-year period. This is not distant supervision — mentors work alongside associates in practice, reviewing treatment plans, demonstrating techniques, and providing real-time clinical guidance.

3. Funded Professional Development

We invest in every associate’s clinical skills through a comprehensive training programme, fully funded by Saint Visage. Courses include Invisalign certification, composite bonding, digital dentistry, smile design, veneer preparations, and advanced restorative techniques.

4. Cultural & Social Integration

Moving to a new country involves far more than professional registration. We support our international associates with:

  • Assistance with accommodation and relocation logistics.
  • Help opening UK bank accounts and understanding the tax system.
  • Guidance on NHS registration for associates and their families.
  • School research support for associates with children.
  • Dependent visa support for spouses and family members.
  • A community of fellow international graduates providing peer support and friendship.

Ethical Recruitment

Saint Visage Dental Group adheres to the principles of ethical international recruitment as set out by the World Health Organization and NHS England. We do not recruit from countries identified as having critical healthcare workforce shortages unless the individual has independently initiated the application process. We are transparent in all recruitment communications and do not charge any fees to candidates.

Impact

Since launching our Associate Development Programme, we have supported over 40 international dental graduates to build careers in UK dentistry. These clinicians now serve patients in communities across England and Scotland, providing high-quality NHS and private dental care. Many have progressed to advanced cosmetic work, with several on pathways to practice partnership.

Beyond the numbers, we measure success through the quality of care our associates deliver, their clinical progression, their satisfaction with the programme, and the positive impact they have on patient access in their local communities.
