IELTS Exemption Checker

Was your dental degree taught and examined entirely in English?

✓ You are likely exempt from IELTS. Dentists who graduated from a degree taught and examined in English within the last 2 years are typically exempt. We'll confirm this as part of your free assessment.

You may need IELTS. The GDC requires a minimum of 7.0 overall and 6.5 in each subsection. Message us and we'll confirm your exact requirements.

Common questions about careers at SV

Can I apply to more than one programme?

Each programme has its own entry requirements. Most applicants start with the ADP and progress to IDP or CDP later. If you’re unsure which programme suits your stage, message us and we’ll advise you directly.

I'm mid-way through GDC registration — can I still apply?

Yes — and you should. The earlier you apply, the sooner we can take over the management of your application. Many associates join while their GDC registration is still in progress.

What is PLVE and do I need it?

PLVE (Performers List Validation by Experience) is a supervised practice requirement for dentists who qualified overseas entering the NHS for the first time. It applies to most EU and international graduates. Saint Visage manages this as part of onboarding.

Do I need to decide my pathway before applying?

No. When you apply, we work out your route together. Whether you’re UK, EU or international, we’ll tell you exactly which steps apply to you and in what order.

I'm a dental student — can I register interest now?

Absolutely. We welcome early interest from students in their final year. We can discuss your options, walk you through what to expect after graduation, and keep you updated on intake timing.

How long does the whole process take?

For UK graduates already GDC registered, as little as 4–6 weeks. For EU and international applicants, GDC registration adds 2–6 months. We’ll give you a realistic timeline based on your specific situation.
